Master of Science in Nursing

The master's degree program is offered to address the growing need for nurses prepared with advanced education and clinical expertise necessary to contribute to person-centered, effective care within the current and future Swiss health care system.

The program, leading to a Master of Science in Nursing degree, prepares Advanced Practice Nurses - Clinical Nurse Specialists with expanded professional knowledge and competencies, enabling them to take on new roles that support patient and family care, advance nursing practice, and facilitate system changes for improved patient and family outcomes within the evolving Swiss health care system.

 

The main objective of the MScN program is  to prepare Advanced Practice Nurses with the qualifications to carry out the Clinical Nurse Specialist role. Graduates are prepared to:

  • Integrate theory,  evidenced-based practice, experiential knowledge and research in advanced nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate competence in advanced nursing practice consistent with applicable professional standards.
  • Contribute to the advancement of nursing practice and the development of nursing science through evidenced-based practice and nursing research.
  • Integrate relationships between social, cultural, political and economic issues, and, health-care delivery.

 

The MScN program is offered through collaboration of three partnering universities in Switzerland:

  • The Berne University of Applied Sciences (BFH) at Berne,
  • The University of Applied Sciences St. Gallen (FHS SG) at St. Gallen,
  • The Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) at Winterthur.

 

Each university partner focuses on a specific Clinical Major.

 

The Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) focuses on the Clinical Majors of Acute Hospital-Based Nursing and Acute Community-Based Nursing.
